Meet the Directors,
Meet the Directors, General Manager and office staff of Midlands Mortgage Trust Group Investment Fund:
John Campbell
Chairman John has been with law firm DAC Legal in Waipukurau since 1981. His role is largely conveyancing, commercial, trusts and estates, with an interest in relationship property issues. He is a director of, and has interests in, several private companies. Outside of work his farming interests are focused on a small block just south of Waipukurau and he enjoys sports such as skiing, tennis, golf and tramping.
Ken Horner
Director A partner at Halliwells, Solicitors of Taranaki, since 1978, Ken has more than 25 years experience of managing investment funds. His directorships have included Hawera Gas Company Limited; Standard Trust and Investment Company of NZ Limited; Halliwells Securities Limited and Westplan Financial Services Limited. A keen outdoors enthusiast, Ken skis and enjoys travelling throughout New Zealand and overseas.
Bruce Page
Director Bruce is a senior partner in Te Awamutu law firm Edmonds Judd. Practicing since 1965, he specialises in commercial and rural law with an emphasis on trusts. Also a keen sportsman, Bruce holds several NZ veteran tennis titles and a single figure golf handicap. He also tramps and cycles.
Graham Throp
Director Graham has been a partner in Hastings’ law firm Bramwell Grossman since 1980. He specialises in commercial and conveyancing law, with an interest in subdivisions, trusts and nominee mortgages. His is also a Director of, and has interests in, several private companies, including a small finance company. Outside the office Graham enjoys family, fishing, travel, golf and the Hawke’s Bay lifestyle.
Management
Peter Harrison General Manager Peter is a South African qualified Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years experience in senior management in Zimbabwe. He immigrated to New Zealand in 2002, gaining similar experience to his current role before joining Midlands Mortgage Trust in 2004. Outside of work, Peter is a keen sailor and enjoys tennis, squash and skiing.
Wendy Moorcock
Administration Manager Wendy started with Midlands at inception in November 2004 and has been responsible for supervision and implementation of office systems in both the investment and lending areas of the business. Wendy has previous experience in the banking (15 years) and financial planning (3 years) industries in Hawke’s Bay, as well as at a local law firm. Outside of work she has a keen interest in garden design and natural remedies.
Anne Hunter
Senior Loans Officer Anne has been promoted to the role of Senior Loans Officer.
Anne has been with Midlands since they launched in 2005. She started as the company’s receptionist but her fast growing skill base led to her latest promotion.
Her daughter Katelyn is now 17 months old and keeps her very busy.
In her spare time Anne enjoys ‘family time’ and playing netball.
In 2008 Anne commences a legal executives course which she will attend in the evenings.
Tony Brooker
Loans Officer After 40 years working for Westpac Bank Tony Brooker retired from the banking world but missed it so much he got back involved as Midlands Mortgage Trust Loans Officer.
Tony brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role with Midlands but he also acknowledges that he’s learnt a lot since undertaking the loans role.
Tony and his family, wife Shirley, daughter Michelle and son Matthew moved to Hawke’s Bay in 1983 and since then he’s managed Westpac’s Napier and Hastings branches and was the banks business banking manager for 14 years.
In his spare time Tony enjoys tramping in the hills and spending time with family and friends.
Dourain Pillay
Loans Administrator Dourain originally hails from Cape Town, South Africa, where he spent 4 years with an investor relations consultancy firm, as a research analyst. Dourain and his wife, Bianca came to New Zealand in 2006.
He began his career with Midlands Mortgage Trust in 2007 as a Loans Administrator and he is an avid Rugby supporter.
